Our expertise encompasses the development of diverse planning documents; design guidelines for historic buildings, districts or zones; maintenance manuals and guidelines for historically appropriate repairs; and custom treatment recommendations for unique resources.
With decades of experience assessing properties’ historic qualities under our belt, we’re attuned to the delicate balance that preservation planning requires. In close collaboration with our clients, we craft these nuanced documents to ensure preservation objectives and future development goals are met.
Recognizing the meticulous care and maintenance individual historic buildings and their materials require, we also develop maintenance manuals for clients with vast inventories. When clients begin planning major renovations to historic buildings, MASON is often enlisted to develop Historic Structure Reports (HSR), which identify specific, character-defining features and offer recommendations for appropriate treatment per the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards (SOIS).
